"The Battle of Tololing became the turning point of the Kargil War. From Dras it appears close, but the reality was completely different. We had to climb steep, barren slopes at an altitude of nearly 16,000 feet in temperatures of minus 15 to minus 20 degrees Celsius. There was no cover, while the enemy occupied fortified positions equipped with machine guns, rocket launchers, mortars and Stinger missiles."

The Indian Navy will commission Malvan, the second of the Mahe-class Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASW-SWC), on July 22.

Born on July 17, 1945, in the village of Rurka in Punjab's Ludhiana district, Sekhon displayed determination from an early age.

Kumar took the review meeting as part of his four-day visit to the highly sensitive coastal areas along the India-Bangladesh boundary in the deep Sundarban Delta and adjacent areas from July 11 to July 14.

"We do want India as a non-permanent member. We also discussed with India bigger changes in the structure of the Security Council of the United Nations. The problem is, and has always been, that in order to make changes, all members have to agree. And since every member has a veto, there's always somebody who doesn't want to change because they like to have a small club than a larger club... We certainly support India in this quest," he added.

Announcing the initiative, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi said the new battalions will create a dedicated cadre of personnel trained exclusively to operate, manage and sustain the Army's rapidly expanding fleet of unmanned aerial systems.
