The pipping ceremony saw personnel ranging from constable to sub-inspector decorated with badges of their next higher honorary rank. It is learnt that these promotions were granted under the Honorary Rank Promotion Scheme.

This qualification will enable the officers to spearhead technological modernisation initiatives across armoured formations and contribute significantly to indigenisation efforts in defence manufacturing.

“From a dusty airstrip in the 1960s to a world-class airfield today, Military Engineering Service (MES) engineers have delivered excellence at Leh Air Force Station, constructing a runway in a record 21 months under extreme cold conditions in rugged high altitude,” wrote the official ‘X’ handle of the Indian Army.

"The LSLA we had sent to Agra was given to the Indian Army stationed in the Ladakh region. This is a matter of pride that Guwahati Refinery played an important role during the country's defence mechanism in Operation Sindoor," he then informed.

"We have heard talk from the Representative of Pakistan about the new normal. Let me reiterate again that terrorism can never be normalised as Pakistan wishes to do. It is not normal to tolerate Pakistan’s continued use of terrorism as an instrument of state policy. This hallowed chamber cannot become a forum for Pakistan to legitimise terrorism,” Harish asserted.

President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, and President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, graced the celebrations as chief guests.

The Shaurya Chakra awardees are Lieutenant Colonel Ghatage Aditya Shrikumar from 21 Para (special forces), Major Anshul Baltoo from 32 Assam Rifles, Major Shivkant Yadav from 5 Para (special forces), Major Vivek Mech from 42 Rashtriya Rifles, Major Leishangthem Deepak Singh from 11 Para (special forces) and Captain Yogendra Singh Thaku from 6 Para (special forces).

The visit by the Secretary of the Army comes as India and the United States see sustained momentum in defence ties.  

"Expectations from the youth have increased. They are invaluable assets of the nation," he added.

"When an earthquake struck Myanmar, we were the first to reach there with 500 tonnes of relief material, and similarly in Sri Lanka, we delivered 1,000 tonnes of relief material."

"Lt Gen Pratik Sharma chaired a Core Group Security Review meeting at Srinagar with senior officials of the Army, police, CRPF, and other security agencies," the Army's Srinagar-based Chinar Corps said in a post on X.
