YSRCP's Ambati Rambabu arrested for remarks against Naidu

While TDP leaders slammed Rambabu for his "disparaging" rhetoric, the YSRCP high command, led by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy alleged that the incident wasn't just a protest but a calculated "murder attempt" backed by the State.

Guntur turned into a virtual battleground as Andhra Pradesh police arrested senior YSRCP leader and former minister Ambati Rambabu. The arrest follows a firestorm over allegedly derogatory comments Rambabu made against Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, but the police action was almost overshadowed by the chaos that erupted at the leader's residence.

The situation spiraled out of control throughout the afternoon and late into the night. Local news footage captured dozens of TDP supporters swarming Rambabu’s home, with reports of vehicles being trashed and the property being ransacked as protesters demanded a public apology. Guntur SP Vakul Jindal eventually confirmed that the former irrigation minister had been taken into custody, though the process was complicated by the massive, angry crowds of ruling party cadres surrounding the area.

While TDP leaders slammed Rambabu for his "disparaging" rhetoric, the YSRCP high command, led by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, moved quickly to flip the narrative. Jagan alleged that the incident wasn't just a protest but a calculated "murder attempt" backed by the State. He claimed Andhra Pradesh has descended into a "jungle raj," accusing Naidu of using political vendetta and street violence to silence anyone who dares to question the government.

The fallout has already reached New Delhi. YSRCP Parliamentary Party leader YV Subba Reddy has fired off urgent letters to the Union Home Secretary and the National Human Rights Commission. He is calling for immediate central intervention, arguing that the state is witnessing a complete breakdown of law and order. Between the arrest and the late-night violence, the political temperature in the state has hit a boiling point.
