As campaigning gathers momentum for the high-stakes Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, actor-turned-politician Vijay has called on members of his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), to step up grassroots outreach over the next 10 days.
The 2026 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly election is scheduled to be held in a single phase on April 23, with counting on May 4. The contest this year is shaping up as a multi-cornered battle involving the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), AIADMK, Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK), and TVK.
Against this backdrop, Vijay, who is leading TVK into the electoral fray, urged party workers to actively engage with voters at the grassroots level. In a message shared on social media platform X, he appealed to cadres to conduct door-to-door campaigns twice daily — once in the morning and once in the evening — across their respective localities.
Extending greetings to party members, Vijay described their contribution as “immeasurable and indispensable” in the party’s “journey to victory.” He called upon them to personally connect with voters, whom he referred to as “family,” and seek support for TVK candidates.
He also urged cadres to identify candidates using the party’s “Whistle” symbol and encouraged them to volunteer actively in campaign efforts. Vijay called on state and district-level leaders to extend full support to candidates and ensure coordinated campaign activities.
Emphasising a people-centric approach, the TVK chief asked workers to engage with voters warmly and inclusively, stressing that the election represents a “monumental change” and a defining moment for the state.
“In this battle to uphold democracy, let all of Tamil Nadu unite as a victorious force and establish a true people’s government,” he said.
With just days left for polling, Vijay’s appeal signals an intensified push by TVK to strengthen its ground-level presence in a fiercely contested election.
