Two persons were killed after a vehicle they were travelling in lost control, went off the road, and fell into a deep gorge in a village under Rohru sub-division of Shimla, police said on Saturday.
The deceased have been identified as Virender Singh and Lokinder Singh, both residents of Ranol village.
The police said the accident took place on Friday night near Ranol when both men were returning home after election campaigning. The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, due to which it veered off the road and fell into a deep gorge. Both occupants died on the spot.
Police recovered the bodies from the gorge with the help of local residents. The bodies were then taken to a nearby hospital for postmortem and later handed over to the family members.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shimla Gaurav Singh confirmed the incident and said further investigation is underway.
