Two police personnel were killed after the car they were travelling in crashed into a tanker near Khalini in Shimla.
The deceased have been identified as Head Constable Praveen Mehta and Constable Hemant Kumar. Both were posted at the Police Lines in Kaithu, Shimla.
The accident took place in the early hours of Monday on the Talland-Khalini road. Police said the driver lost control of the car, which then rammed into a tanker. Both constables suffered serious injuries.
A team from the East Police Station reached the spot after receiving information about the accident. The injured were rescued and taken to Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), Shimla, where they later died of their injuries.
Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), Shimla City, Mehar Panwar confirmed the incident. She said a case had been registered and further investigation was in progress.
