One of the gates of the Tungabhadra Dam in Karnataka was washed away last night after a chain link snapped. The State Disaster Management Authority of Andhra Pradesh (APSDMA) has issued an alert for residents living along the Krishna River banks, advising them to remain vigilant.

According to APSDMA managing director R. Kurmanadh, nearly 35,000 cusecs of floodwater flowed from the dam, with a total discharge expected to reach 48,000 cusecs downstream.
