Tamil Nadu DMK releases a list of 21 candidates for Lok Sabha polls

The process for filing nomination papers for the first phase of the Lok Sabha polls begins today, March 20. The gazette nominations will be issued for 102 constituencies across 21 states and Union territories where polls will be held in phase one.

DMK releases list of 21 candidates for general election 2024.


Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin released the party manifesto on Wednesday. Besides this, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam also announced a list of candidates for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, fielding Dayanidhi Maran from Central Chennai, A Raja from Nilgiris, Kanimozhi from Thoothukudi, Kalanidhi Veeraswamy from North Chennai, Thamizhachi Thangapandian from South Chennai, Annadurai from Thiruvanamalai and TR Baalu from Sriperambathur.

 

The process for filing nomination papers for the first phase of the Lok Sabha polls begins today, March 20. The gazette nominations will be issued for 102 constituencies across 21 states and Union territories where polls will be held in phase one.

 

This includes 39 seats in Tamil Nadu, 12 in Rajasthan, eight In Uttar Pradesh, six in Madhya Pradesh, five each in Assam, Maharashtra and Uttarakhand, four in Bihar, three in West Bengal, two each in Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, and Meghalaya and one each in Puducherry, Lakshadweep, Jammu and Kashmir, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Tripura, Sikkim, Nagaland, Mizoram, and Chhattisgarh.

 

Furthermore, to file nominations, general candidates will have to deposit a security deposit of Rs 25,000, while Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) candidates will have to deposit a sum of Rs 12,500. March 27 is the last date for filing nominations while voting for the first phase is scheduled to be held on April 19. The scrutiny of nominations will be done on March 28 and the last date for withdrawal of candidature is March 30. The counting of votes will take place on June 4.
