The agitation by competitive examination aspirants against alleged irregularities in the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) CGL recruitment examinations has taken a serious turn after student leader Rahul Kranti, who has been on an indefinite hunger strike for the past four days, was hospitalised following a deterioration in his health on Friday morning.
According to student leaders, Rahul Kranti complained of severe weakness, high fever and dizziness before being rushed to Ranchi Sadar Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment.
Before being admitted to the hospital, Rahul Kranti criticised the state government and the local administration, alleging negligence towards the protesting students. He claimed that despite the prolonged hunger strike, medical teams were not deployed in time to conduct regular health check-ups of the protesters.
Student leaders alleged that the government's response reflected a lack of concern for the welfare and future of the state's youth. They asserted that while the prolonged protest may weaken the physical condition of the aspirants, it would not diminish their resolve to secure justice.
The protesting students have reiterated several key demands, including the cancellation of the allegedly tainted JPSC and JSSC CGL examinations, a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) into the alleged irregularities, blacklisting of the agencies responsible for conducting the disputed examinations, and comprehensive structural reforms in the functioning of both recruitment commissions.
Student organisations, supported by the opposition, have urged the JMM-Congress-RJD coalition government to initiate direct dialogue with representatives of the agitating aspirants instead of prolonging the standoff. They have called for transparent and concrete action to address what they describe as the legitimate concerns of job seekers.
Rahul Kranti remains under medical supervision at Ranchi Sadar Hospital. Meanwhile, students across the state have expressed concern over his health and reiterated that their agitation will continue until they receive what they describe as justice and accountability in the recruitment process.
