Amid ongoing political turbulence in opposition parties across states, fresh claims have emerged suggesting a potential internal rift within the Samajwadi Party (SP) in Uttar Pradesh. State Minister and Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) president Om Prakash Rajbhar on Wednesday alleged that a major split could soon take place within the Akhilesh Yadav-led SP, with several leaders reportedly ready to join the BJP.

In a post on X, Rajbhar claimed that senior SP leader Ram Gopal Yadav had submitted a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, though he did not provide details regarding the contents or context of the alleged communication.

“Samajwadi Party will witness a major split. Ram Gopal Yadav has handed over a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah,” Rajbhar wrote. He further alleged that ongoing investigations into past controversies had placed the SP leadership under increasing pressure.

Referring to alleged scams, Rajbhar said, “Who is the mastermind behind the mining scam and Gomti River Front scam, the entire Uttar Pradesh knows. As the noose is tightening, the SP is worried.” He also claimed that the situation was not limited to political developments in Maharashtra and West Bengal, asserting that “the entire SP is ready to join the BJP.”

Rajbhar, whose party is an ally of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Uttar Pradesh, made these remarks at a time when the state is gearing up for the 2027 Assembly elections. The Samajwadi Party has not yet responded to his allegations.

The claims come against the backdrop of political unrest in other opposition parties, including the Trinamool Congress (TMC) in West Bengal and the Shiv Sena (UBT) in Maharashtra, both of which are currently facing internal challenges. Observers note that such developments could have wider implications for opposition unity ahead of upcoming electoral battles.
