Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, addressing the last session of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly on the final day of the Monsoon Session, announced that his government will provide compensation and jobs on compassionate grounds to the families of Agniveer jawans who lose their lives serving the nation.

Soren made this announcement during his speech in the State Assembly, responding to questions raised by the Opposition (BJP) on Friday.

Launching a scathing attack on the BJP, Soren accused the party of illegally constructing offices on government land and Tata Steel Quarters, while alleging that they aimed to imprison him in a land-grabbing case.

“We have given jobs to more than 1.5 lakh youth over the last five years, and had I not been threatened with jail, we would have certainly provided jobs to five lakh people,” he stated.

Soren cited various achievements of his government, including a 50 per cent increase in the honorarium for para teachers and Anganwadi workers, and a 100 per cent increase for cooks. An additional annual amount of about 1,200 crore rupees has been allocated for the honorarium of contract workers.

“These people are traders, selling sand in the Assembly in the morning, and they aim to sell the country. Loans worth billions are waived, but they do not relieve the farmers’ debts. We are committed to providing more relief to farmers,” Soren said.

He further announced plans to provide unemployment allowances to the jobless in every block and, under the Maiya Yojana, 12,000 rupees annually to women. He also pledged that if re-elected, his government would give one lakh rupees to every household.

Soren criticised the handling of paper leaks, stating that while Gujarat has experienced the most incidents, any leak in Jharkhand is sensationalised by the media, which he claims is influenced by his opponents. He also accused them of attempting to control the judiciary.
