Punjab to recruit 10,000 Policemen

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has unveiled plans to bolster the state's police force with the recruitment of 10,000 additional policemen. This move aims to enhance law enforcement and combat smuggling.  

 

Furthermore, 3,000 Artificial Intelligence (AI)--powered cameras will be installed at the borders to monitor and prevent the illegal entry of drugs and weapons.

Mann made these announcements while addressing a gathering during a function to disburse appointment letters to 443 officers in the police, law, and justice departments.  

 

"For the first time, around 3,000 AI-enabled cameras will be installed at the borders for keeping a check on smuggling of drugs, weapons, and other things from across the borders. The state government will soon recruit 10,000 more policemen in the Punjab Police for which notification has already been issued," he said.

 

He then emphasised the government's commitment to modernise the police force, introducing AI technology, and allocating Rs 45 crore for this purpose.

 

The Chief Minister highlighted the government's achievements in providing 44,250 government jobs to youths in the last two-and-a-half years, stressing the importance of empowering young people.

 

He also mentioned the introduction of 410 hi-tech vehicles for station house officers to maintain law and order efficiently.
