Punjab government is considering setting up 66 solar power plants, each with a capacity of 4 MW, as announced by Minister of New and Renewable Energy Sources Aman Arora on Wednesday. This clean energy project aims to generate approximately 390 million units of electricity annually.

To discuss strategies for the project, Arora chaired a meeting with senior officers from the departments of new and renewable energy sources, power, and the Punjab Development Commission, alongside Power Minister Harbhajan Singh.

The initiative is expected to result in significant annual savings of roughly Rs 136 crore through feeder-level solarisation.

This endeavour is poised to attract substantial investments, totalling Rs 1,056 crore, and create job opportunities in the non-conventional energy sector.

The project's successful implementation will mark a significant milestone in Punjab's transition to clean energy, paving the way for a sustainable future.
