Punjab Cabinet Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar has tendered his resignation this Saturday, acting on the direct orders of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. The move follows a growing scandal surrounding the tragic suicide of a district manager for the Warehouse Corporation in Amritsar.
The MLA for Patti, who held the transport portfolio, was reportedly told to step down after a distressing video surfaced on social media. As seen in the footage, the official, Gagandeep Singh Randhawa, is saying that he had consumed a poisonous substance and went on to mention the name of Bhullar. It is seen that the Chief Minister has not taken any time in ordering the Chief Secretary to investigate the matter thoroughly, which goes to show that there is no scope for any sort of negligence or misconduct in his administration.
This issue has taken on a new dimension with the claims made by the Shiromani Akali Dal politician Bikram Singh Majithia. He has claimed that the official had taken Celphos in order to kill himself. He has gone on to further reinforce the claims made regarding the identification of Bhullar made by the deceased manager. Although this is a huge fall from grace for the politician, the investigation that is about to take place must go into the pressure that was on the official before he died.
