A property dealer was shot dead in broad daylight attack near a gym in Sector 9 on Wednesday.

 

The incident caused panic in the area. The victim has been identified as Preet Nagra, a resident of Kubaheri in Mullanpur (New Chandigarh). He was targeted at around 12 pm and was taken to the Government Multi-Speciality Hospital soon after the attack, where he later died.

 

According to preliminary reports, two unknown attackers came on a motorcycle and opened fire on Nagra. They shot 8-10 rounds before fleeing from the spot.

 

Preet had allegedly just stepped out of the Body Zone gym. He had entered his car when the attackers shot at him near the slip road connecting Sectors 9 and 8, close to the 18/17 light point.

 

Police reached the spot soon after the incident and sealed the area. A forensic team collected evidence, and CCTV footage from nearby places is being checked to identify the assailants.

 

The motive behind the attack is still not clear. Police are trying to identify and catch the assailants.
