Assam minister Pijush Hazarika on Monday won the Jagiroad Assembly constituency by a margin of 93,584 votes, securing his fourth consecutive term as an MLA, according to Election Commission data.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader polled 1,55,129 votes, comfortably defeating Congress candidate Bubul Das, who secured 61,545 votes.
Hazarika’s latest victory extends his winning streak in the constituency, having earlier retained Jagiroad in 2016 and 2021. He had begun his electoral career by winning the Raha seat in 2011, before shifting to Jagiroad, where he has since consolidated his political base.

A senior figure in the Assam BJP, Hazarika currently handles key portfolios such as Water Resources, Parliamentary Affairs, and Information and Public Relations in the state government. He is regarded as a close confidant of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Before joining the BJP, Hazarika was associated with the Congress and later emerged as an important member of the ruling party in the state. He also served as a minister in the first BJP-led Assam government headed by Sarbananda Sonowal.
