A university student in Madhya Pradesh's Gwalior district has lodged a complaint with the police after transactions totalling Rs 46 crore occurred from his bank account, a police official stated on Friday.

The young man, identified as Pramod Kumar Dandotiya (approximately 25 years old) and a resident of Gwalior, discovered the issue upon receiving a notice from the Income Tax and GST authorities. The notice informed him that a company had been registered using his PAN card and had been operating in Mumbai and Delhi since 2021.

Dandotiya expressed, "I am a university student in Gwalior. Upon receiving the notice from Income Tax and GST, I learned that a company had been registered using my PAN card and has been operating in Mumbai and Delhi since 2021. I am unaware of how my PAN card has been misused and how these transactions were conducted.”

He further stated that upon receiving the information from the Income Tax department, he contacted the relevant authorities. Despite numerous attempts to file a complaint with the police, no action was taken. On Friday, he visited the office of the Additional Superintendent of Police once again and lodged his complaint.

The Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Shiyaz KM remarked, "Today, we received an application from a young man stating that transactions exceeding Rs 46 crore have been made from his bank account. The documents regarding this matter are under scrutiny. It appears that the PAN card has been misused, leading to the registration of a company and such substantial transactions."

The entire issue is currently under investigation, the officer concluded.
