New warehouses at Hisar Airport to aid farm exports

The project aims to keep produce fresh through temperature-controlled storage, boost agricultural exports, and help farmers earn better profits. Under this plan, the Haryana State Warehousing Corporation will establish modern cold storage and air cargo facilities at the airport. These facilities will help preserve and export farmers' produce according to international standards, further strengthening Haryana’s role as a leading state in horticulture.

In a major move, the Haryana government will develop advanced warehousing facilities at Maharaja Agrasen Airport in Hisar to ensure smooth storage and transportation of horticultural crops.

The announcement came during a meeting of the Haryana State Warehousing Corporation and the Civil Aviation Department, chaired by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Tuesday. Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shyam Singh Rana also attended the meeting.

During a meeting of the Haryana State Warehouse Corporation and the Civil Aviation Department, headed by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, he said the state government was taking strong steps to increase farmers’ incomes and connect their produce to global markets.

He added that the new warehouse facilities at Hisar Airport will not only give farmers a new identity but also help Haryana become an agricultural export hub.

Temperature-controlled storage and export facilities will ensure farmers get fair prices for their crops. He noted that districts such as Hisar, Sirsa, and Fatehabad are quickly becoming major centers for horticultural crops, including strawberries, guavas, and kinnows.

The chief minister urged the Haryana State Warehousing Corporation to take proactive steps so that no farmer’s produce goes to waste and to provide maximum support for storage and exports. He also highlighted the need to use solar energy to maintain the right temperatures in storage facilities. During the meeting, it was stated that priority will be given to promoting the export of horticultural and other products from the state, with special focus on air cargo services for perishable crops like fruits and flowers.

Agriculture and farmers' welfare minister Shyam Singh Rana was also present on the occasion.
