NEET leak case: CBI checks docs at J’khand School

A partially burnt NEET UG 2024 question paper was found at a private school in Ramakrishna Nagar, Patna. The serial code on the paper was linked to the Oasis School examination centre on Mandai Road, Hazaribagh, Jharkhand.

Continuing the NEET paper leak investigation on the second day in Jharkhand, the CBI team on Thursday escorted Dr. Ehsan Ul Haq, the principal of Oasis School, Hazaribag, to the school for further questioning.

The CBI examined documents at the school premises.

 

Earlier, on Wednesday, the CBI had visited the principal's residence, where he was interrogated for approximately three hours. Subsequently, the CBI team, along with the principal, arrived at the school around noon. Here, they interrogated the principal, teachers, and staff involved in the exam process.

 

The questioning continued till 5 PM, and included an inspection of room number 18 in the school. Additionally, employees of Blue Dart, the courier company that delivered the question paper, were brought in for questioning at the school.

 

Following the investigation, the CBI detained the school principal and another individual from the school. They were taken to the Charhi CCL Guest House, where they were interrogated overnight.

 

It is noteworthy that a partially burnt NEET UG 2024 question paper was found at a private school in Ramakrishna Nagar, Patna. The serial code on the paper was linked to the Oasis School examination centre on Mandai Road, Hazaribagh, Jharkhand.

 

The Bihar Police's Economic Offences Unit (EOU) discovered that the solved PDF copy of the question paper was sent to the mobile of the accused, Baldev Kumar alias Chintu, by Sanjeev Kumar alias Lutan Mukhiya on the morning of May 5, 2024, the exam date. The candidates were then allegedly coached based on this information.

After receiving details about the serial code from the NTA on July 20, it was confirmed that the code belonged to Oasis School in Kallu Chowk, Mandai Road, Hazaribagh. The EOU team visited Hazaribag for verification, where preliminary evidence suggested tampering with the packing trunk.\

 

In another development, the CBI, as part of its ongoing investigation into the NEET-UG exam irregularities, arrested two individuals from Patna, Bihar, on Thursday. These are the first arrests made by the federal agency in connection with the alleged paper leak.

 

Sources indicated that the accused allegedly provided a safe space for exam aspirants and assisted them in preparing for the test.
