Jammu and Kashmir National Conference’s (NC) Member of Parliament from Srinagar, Aga Ruhullah, has attacked his own party for failing to resolve issues faced by students, particularly those seeking admission at the Vaishno Devi University.
The issues, according to Ruhullah, have deeply affected the mental well-being of the students, exacerbated by the government’s silence.
“The affected students have nowhere to go; they are expecting the government to resolve the issue as soon as possible, and this isn’t about politics; rather, their careers are at stake,” he said.
Ruhullah accused the government of backtracking on its promises, saying they assured that the issues would be settled within a specific time frame of six months. However, a year had passed without any clarity.

Threatening to launch fresh agitation in case the long-pending student were not resolved properly, the MP also criticised the SMVD shrine board for introducing guidelines that prioritise faith, a move he said would discriminate between students and affect the future of thousands of meritorious pupils belonging to other faiths.
Saying the “time to talk is over”, he said it’s now time to implement the decision to prevent academic losses of hundreds of students whose careers are at risk.
He also warned that if the issue doesn’t get resolved by the end of the parliament session on December 20, he will hit the streets along with thousands of students.
The protests, unlike those held in December, would be longer and firmer, he added.
