Trinamool Congress MP and senior Supreme Court advocate Kalyan Banerjee has released a recording of a telephone conversation with Mamata Banerjee on his Facebook page, in which the outgoing West Bengal Chief Minister launched a scathing attack on the integrity of the Bhabanipur election result. Describing the verdict as "stolen" and the product of an "unethical dirty game," she claimed that the election process was systematically compromised by the Election Commission to facilitate a BJP victory.
During the call, Mamata Banerjee maintained that she had held a consistent lead over the BJP’s Suvendu Adhikari until the sixteenth round of counting. She alleged that as the process entered its final stages in areas traditionally considered TMC strongholds, the situation was forcibly manipulated. She claimed that "goons" entered the counting centres under the protection of the CRPF to intimidate officials and physically eject TMC agents, replacing them with opposition representatives.
The outgoing Chief Minister further accused the Election Commission, the Central Reserve Police Force, and local election officials of operating under direct instructions from Delhi. She alleged that she was personally barred from the counting hall while her agents were being removed. According to her account, the final rounds of the count took place without any TMC representation present, during which she claims EVM machines were moved to strongrooms without being properly sealed.
Describing the ordeal as "torture," she suggested a two-pronged strategy was used to defeat her: first, the removal of loyal voters through the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, and subsequently, the "forcible theft" of votes amidst deliberate power cuts and administrative chaos. She insisted that the outcome was a moral defeat for the opposition rather than a legitimate win. Confirming that evidence has been meticulously documented, she informed Kalyan Banerjee that the party intends to challenge the results through every available legal channel.
