Magisterial probe ordered into Leh clashes

The order directed that the submission of a detailed inquiry report must be made within a period of four weeks.

The District Magistrate in Leh has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the serious law and order situation that led to violence on the streets on September 24.

As many as four people were killed after police and protesters clashed during the protests.

 

Sub-Divisional Magistrate Nubra, Mukul Beniwal, has been designated as the Inquiry Officer to ascertain the detailed facts and circumstances of the incident.

 

The order reads: “The District Magistrate of Leh, vide Order No. 03 JC of 2025 dated 26/09/2025, has designated the undersigned as Inquiry Officer for the Magisterial Inquiry into the death of 04 individuals during the serious law and order situation and police action that took place at Leh on 24/09/2025.'

 

The four people killed in the action were identified as Jigmet Dorjey; So Yountan Chospel, a resident of Kharnak; Rinchen Dadul, son of Tsering Morup, a resident of Hanu; Stanzin Namgail, son of Nawang Zotpa, a resident of Igoo; and Tsewang Tharchin, son of Stanzin Namgyal, a resident of Skurbuchan.

 

The order directed that the submission of a detailed inquiry report must be made within a period of four weeks.
