Lokayukta raids places across K’taka; First crackdown after its revamp

Nearly 130 Lokayukta sleuths including 13 Superintendents of Police (SPs), 12 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DySPs) and 25 police inspectors are involved in the raids conducted by Lokayukta.

Anti-corruption agency Lokayukta on Wednesday raided 60 places linked to13 state government officials across Karnataka, official sources said.

 

The raids are underway at Bengaluru, Bidar, Ramanagara, Uttara Kannada, Udupi, Kodagu, Mysuru and Vijayapura districts.

 

Nearly 130 Lokayukta sleuths including 13 Superintendents of Police (SPs), 12 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DySPs) and 25 police inspectors are involved in the raids.

 

The Lokayukta in Karnataka had raided residences of government officials at 40 locations in connection with 10 corruption cases. The raids were conducted simultaneously in Tumakuru, Mandya, Chikkamagaluru, Mysuru, Koppal, Vijayanagara, Ballari, Hassan, Chamarajanagara, and Mangaluru.

This is the first largest crackdown, initiated by the Lokayukta, after it was revamped two months ago.

 

The Lokayukta is the Indian Parliamentary Ombudsman. This was executed for each of the State Governments of India. It is brought into effect in a state after passing the Lokayukta Act in the respective state legislature, and a person of reputable background is nominated for the post.
