In a bid to reclaim the homeland for Kashmiri Pandits (KP) who left the Valley during the onset of militancy in the early 1990s, Youth4PanunKashmir (Y4PK) and Panun Kashmir on Tuesday announced the launch of a major campaign.
The campaign focuses on reclaiming the lost homeland of the displaced Kashmiri Pandits, whose identity was snatched during the dark hours of the dreaded militancy in Kashmir.
According to the statement, the movement is set to begin on January 16, 2026, at Jagti, Jammu.
The organisers, Maha Abhiyan, are rooted in the Margdarshan resolution of 1991 and seek to unite the displaced Pandit community around the goal of returning to their native homeland.
The launch event will begin with the Asht Bhairav invocation and Shakti Yajna, symbolising strength, unity, and spiritual resolve.
Rahul Kaul, Chairman of the Apex Committee of Y4PK, described the campaign as “the moral and spiritual call to reclaim what history and destiny promised us, Panun Kashmir.”
Its president, Vithal Chowdhary, called it “the definitive assertion of the right to return,” while Vice President Sunil Raina said the Abhiyan represents “a generational call to transform pain into purpose.”
Several members of Y4PK, including Suvesh Pandita, Rahul Pandita, and Yamini Kaul, expressed their commitment to lead the movement through cultural assertion and digital mobilisation.
Senior activists from the Pandit community also endorsed the initiative, highlighting the rare unity across generations within the disenfranchised community.
Organisers said the Maha Abhiyan would feature a series of cultural, spiritual, and community programmes, culminating in a collective declaration focused on homeland reclamation, rehabilitation, and justice.
Every government in the country has promised a safe return of the Kashmiri Pandit community through a resettlement plan since the early 2000s.
However, despite all the assurances, no administration has been able to resettle the displaced migrant Kashmiri Pandits in the Kashmir Valley.
Mainstream politicians, including the separatist leadership, along with the people of the Kashmir Valley, have expressed open support and extended their arms towards the returning Pandits.
