Shivam Mishra, son of tobacco businessman KK Mishra, was arrested on Thursday morning in connection with a Lamborghini crash that injured six people in Kanpur earlier this week and was granted bail within hours.
The accident occurred at around 3.15 pm on Monday on VIP Road in the Gwaltoli area when a Lamborghini Revuelto, reportedly worth ₹10 crore, struck an autorickshaw and a stationary motorcycle before crashing into an electric pole. Six persons sustained injuries.
Eyewitnesses alleged that Mishra was driving the vehicle. Videos circulating on social media purportedly show private security personnel pulling him out of the driver’s seat following the crash.
His lawyer has maintained that Mishra was not driving at the time. On Wednesday, a man identified as Mohan appeared before a Kanpur court claiming he was behind the wheel.
“I was driving the car when the accident happened. Suddenly, he had a seizure and fell on me... I got scared and was trying to hold him with one hand. The car hit a three-wheeler...” Mohan claimed, adding that an auto-locking system prevented him from exiting immediately and that he later shifted Mishra to the driver’s seat inside the vehicle.

Mishra’s family has stated earlier that he suffers from epilepsy.
The First Information Report was initially registered against “unknown persons”, with Mishra’s name added later. Local residents and victims alleged that police were “going soft” due to the family’s influence.
On Monday, Santosh Kumar Gaur, officer-in-charge of Gwaltoli police station, was sent to the police line over alleged lapses.
“He failed to follow due procedure after the accident. The lapse amounts to negligence, and immediate action has been taken,” Commissioner of Police Raghubir Lal said.
The black Lamborghini, bearing a Delhi registration plate, has been seized and sent for mechanical inspection.
Mishra’s father owns Banshidhar Exports Pvt Ltd, which has previously come under the scanner of the Income Tax Department.
