Jharkhand Govt to provide ‘Samman Rashi’ honorarium to women

Just a couple of months ahead of Assembly elections in the State, the Jharkhand government is planning an ambitious scheme to lure women voters by giving them an honorarium every month.

 

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren today announced that the State Government has decided to give ‘Samman Rashi ‘(honorarium) to women between 21 and 50 years of age. For this, special camps will be set up very soon across the state to take applications from beneficiaries.

 

Although Soren did not divulge the amount of the honorarium, sources said that it would be Rs 1000 every month to the women of the age group. He said that the government is working with the resolve to empower the women of the State and the Samman Rashi would be big help for them in the process.

 

Earlier, in June this year, then Chief Minister Champai Soren had directed officials to start the "Mukhyamantri Behan Beti Swavalamban Protsahan Yojana" in the state soon. He had told the officials that under this scheme, financial assistance will be provided to poor needy women of all classes of communities above 25 years and below 50 years of age.

 

Champai Soren had directed the officials that the department should ensure to make all its preparations on a war footing so that the benefit of

 

"Mukhyamantri Behan Beti Swavalamban Protsahan Yojana" starts reaching eligible women of all classes of communities within the stipulated time frame.

 

He had even directed the officials of the Information Technology Department to prepare a better portal of this scheme as soon as possible. He said that for the successful operation of this scheme, it is necessary that the Department of Women, Child Development and Social Security and the Department of

Information Technology give concrete shape to the operation of the scheme with better coordination and synergy.

 

Notably, the Jharkhand government is already giving pension of Rs 1000 to Women of the State above the age of 50 years. With this scheme all the women from the age of 21 years will get Rs 1000 every month from the State government.
