Jailed former Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s wife Kalpana Soren took her first step in politics with a powerful and emotional speech during Jharkhand Mukti Morcha’s Foundation Day programme in Giridih on Monday.

Kalpana's emotional speech on the occasion of 51st Foundation Day of JMM impressed political experts in the State. She attacked BJP and the Central Government for the arrest of Hemant Soren. She tried to connect with the masses by calling her the representative of Hemant.

Political experts and JMM insiders hinted that Kalpana's speech in Giridih shows that it is going to be her workplace in the future.

Also, Kalpana gave enough indications during her speech.

Kalpana said that apart from being the holy land of Marang Buru, Giridih is also the land of Guruji's (Shibu Soren) struggle and work, hence she has also made Giridih the place of her struggle and work. She said, “I am your daughter-in-law, make me your daughter.”

JMM MLA Sudivya Kumar Sonu also said that he hopes that the people of Giridih will give full love and support to Kalpana Soren.

JMM sources said that Kalpana can be a candidate from Giridih or Dumka in the Lok Sabha elections being held before the assembly elections. But, the way Kalpana has associated herself with Giridih shows that Kalpana wants to start her political career as well as electoral politics from Giridih.

After the foundation day celebration of JMM in Giridih, Kalpana posted on X: “Today, I reached among you all as the voice of Jan Nayak Hemant ji from the revolutionary land of Giridih. The BJP government at the Center has not put Hemant ji in jail, it has put the self-respect and self-respect of Jharkhand in jail. And it will get a befitting reply. A befitting reply will be given to this in the coming times.”

“I had come thinking that as Hemant ji had said in the Assembly that ‘I will not shed tears, I will keep the tears for the time being.’ Tears have no meaning for the BJP government at the Centre. The tears of tribals, Dalits, backward classes and minorities have no value in front of them. ‘I too will not shed tears. But, I could not stop myself in front of the immense love and blessings of all of you,” she said.

Kalpana said that being a daughter of an Army officer, she had been taught to struggle and fight for the truth without fear.

Kalpana Soren (48), belonging to Mayurbhanj district in Odisha, got married to Hemant Soren on February 7, 2006. Kalpana was born in 1976 in Ranchi.
