Telangana Police on Friday busted an alleged international drug manufacturing network in Hyderabad, arresting two individuals and seizing a significant quantity of contraband substances. The operation was carried out jointly by the Telangana Eagle Force, the Hyderabad Narcotics team, the Abdullahpurmet Police under the Malkajgiri Commissionerate, and the LB Nagar Zone Clues Team.
During the raid, officials recovered 750 grams of
mephedrone valued at approximately Rs 50 lakh, along with chemicals and equipment used for drug production.
The accused have been identified as Keesari Matsyagiri, a businessman from Thirumalagiri in Suryapet district, and Nimmala Naresh, a resident of Mothkur in Yadadri-Bhongir district. The seizure was made during a raid at Batasingaram in Abdullapurmet mandal of Rangareddy district.
According to police officials, preliminary investigations revealed that Matsyagiri had links with an international drug manufacturing syndicate and had allegedly established multiple drug production units across the country in collaboration with other members of the network. Authorities stated that the accused has a criminal background spanning over a decade.
Police sources further disclosed that Matsyagiri had previously been arrested multiple times and had served a jail term. In the latest case, he is alleged to have approached an individual named Ravula Mahesh from Mothkur under the pretext of producing “facial glow powder.” Mahesh, who was working as a watchman in a mango orchard, was reportedly promised a monthly salary of Rs 10,000.
Investigators said Matsyagiri procured raw materials, chemicals, and equipment worth Rs 60,000 from a supplier identified as Prabhakar. Initially, small quantities of raw mephedrone were manufactured at the mango orchard. Officials stated that the operation produced around two kilograms of raw mephedrone, which was later refined into approximately 750 grams of the final drug.
During the raid, police also seized manufacturing equipment, chemicals, a car, and three mobile phones from the site. Authorities are continuing their investigation and are on the lookout for other members of the network who are currently absconding.
