Tourists visiting the Dooars during the upcoming Durga Puja holidays will be greeted with a breathtaking new attraction, India’s tallest glass tower, now open at an amusement park in Majherdabri, Alipurduar.
“Standing 98 feet tall, the tower offers a panoramic view of the lush Dooars region, Bhutan, and the Boxer Jungle. Equipped with binoculars, a selfie zone, and a swing ride at the top, the tower has quickly become the main attraction for visitors,” said Arindam Ghosh, head of the amusement park.
This is the second glass tower in India, following the one in Ahmedabad, and has been built by a Pune-based company with design inspirations drawn from Shanghai’s glass tower. However, modifications were made to avoid copyright issues.
To reach the site, tourists can alight at New Alipurduar or Alipurduar Junction station, from where the amusement park is just seven kilometres away. The park itself offers over 50 entertainment facilities, including a water park and snow world, making it a family-friendly destination.
Tickets to climb the tower are priced at Rs 200 per person, with an additional Rs 100 charged for the swing ride at the top. A maximum of 25 visitors are permitted on the tower at a time.
Tourists have already begun flocking to the site. Swagata Ghosh, a visitor, said, “The entire Alipurduar can be seen from here. I will tell everyone to come and experience it. This is a wonderful gift for our town.”

Local tourist Amrita Sengupta added, “It feels thrilling and a little scary to be at such a height. But the bird’s-eye view of Dooars is mesmerising. This will put Alipurduar on the tourism map.”
Another tourist, Rana Islam from Dinhata, said he came after seeing pictures on social media. “I’ve never been to a glass tower before. This one is taller than the one in Ahmedabad,” he remarked.
Arindam Ghosh, the owner of the park, shared the inspiration behind the project. “I was inspired after visiting Rajgir’s glass bridge, but the company suggested a glass tower would better complement this landscape. Construction was completed in December, making it the tallest in India,” he said.
With the festive season approaching, the glass tower is expected to add a new dimension to Dooars tourism, drawing visitors from across Bengal and beyond.
