As the Kanwar Yatra began, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said the state government would take firm action against those who mislead others by hiding their identity and attempt to harm Sanatan values under ‘Operation Kalanemi’.
Speaking to mediapersons, CM Dhami said, “Those who are deceiving people here, hiding their identity, hurting faith and belief, harming Sanatan, such people will be identified, a campaign will be run against such people and those who are hurting religion and faith by hiding their reality will be caught, action will be taken against them.”
The Chief Minister has directed officials to swiftly act against impersonators, especially those posing as saints to exploit and cheat people, including women. He said such actions not only hurt the religious sentiments of the people but also tarnish the values of Sanatan Dharma and disrupt social harmony in Devbhoomi Uttarakhand.
Dhami said several cases have come to light in the state where anti-social elements were found to be cheating people, especially women, by disguising themselves as saints.
Drawing a parallel with the mythological demon Kalanemi, who disguised himself as a saint to mislead others, CM Dhami said many such individuals are active today, committing crimes under the garb of religious authority.
