Himanta seeks action against ‘infiltrators’ in J’khand

Assam CM attacks Hemant Soren government on corruption, infiltration by Bangladeshi ‘illegal immigrants’.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Assam Chief Minister and co-election in-charge of Jharkhand, Himanta Biswa Sarma, today called for stringent measures against Bangladeshi infiltrators, demanding a law in Jharkhand that prevents illegal immigrants from marrying tribal girls in the state.

Sarma criticised the Hemant Soren government, claiming that it is more focused on protecting infiltrators than addressing the concerns of Jharkhand's people. "The land of Lord Birsa Munda and Sido Kanhu is becoming the land of infiltrators. The demography of Santhal Pargana has changed. Love Jihad and Land Jihad are at their peak. Bangladeshi infiltrators are marrying tribal daughters and occupying the land," he stated.

The Assam CM insisted on a law that would prevent infiltrators from marrying tribal daughters in Jharkhand. Sarma, on a two-day organisational tour in the state, addressed workers at the felicitation and Vijay Sankalp Sabha in Khunti district.

He accused Hemant Soren of serious corruption, stating that he did not participate in any freedom movement but faced charges of corruption and is currently out on bail. Sarma described the government as being controlled by brokers and middlemen, noting that Champai Soren was removed under their pressure despite his efforts to do good.

Sarma highlighted the deteriorating law and order situation in Jharkhand, with daily incidents of rape, and criticised Soren for pretending to be a tribal leader while neglecting the welfare of the tribal community.

He accused the government of failing to fulfil promises, such as providing five lakh jobs per year, and instead, not even delivering one lakh jobs or unemployment allowances.

The Assam CM pointed to rampant corruption, citing the discovery of crores of rupees at the houses of former minister Alamgir Alam and a Congress MP, describing it as looted money that belonged to Jharkhand's tribal natives.

He argued that if this money were in the treasury, it could have been used for unemployment allowances and farmer loan waivers.

Sarma praised the contributions of Jharkhand workers in forming the Modi government for a third term, noting that the NDA won nine out of 14 Lok Sabha seats and asserting that the workers deserved respect.
