The Centre has okayed two new Kendriya Vidyalayas for Himachal Pradesh. One school will open in Kotkhai in Shimla district, and the other has been approved for Paonta Sahib in Sirmaur.

Education Minister Rohit Thakur said the schools were cleared by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The approval came on the basis of proposals sent by the state government.

These two schools are part of 57 new Kendriya Vidyalayas that have been sanctioned across the country.

The minister said the schools will provide education from pre-primary level onwards under the CBSE curriculum. This will give thousands of children in these districts access to quality education close to their home.

He added that the state government’s efforts in pushing for these schools show its strong commitment to improving education and infrastructure in rural and semi-urban areas.

“These new Kendriya Vidyalayas will reduce the need for children to migrate for better schooling, open new opportunities for academic excellence, and further strengthen the state’s education and infrastructure network,” said Thakur.
