Haryana government has approved a proposal to provide a Rs 2,000 per acre bonus to farmers for their Kharif crops, in light of less rainfall in the state. This decision was taken in a state Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini.

The bonus will be applicable to all Kharif crops, including fruits, flowers, and vegetables. Notably, even farmers with less than an acre of land will receive the full Rs 2,000 bonus. This move aims to support farmers who have incurred additional costs due to reduced rainfall in May, June, and July, than last year.

"We will give a bonus on all Kharif crops including fruits, flowers and vegetables. Farmers will be given Rs 2,000 per acre as a bonus," he said.

If any farmer owns less than an acre of land, even then Rs 2,000 will be given, said Saini, adding "I am also the son of a farmer, I understand their pain."

To avail of this benefit, farmers must register on the 'Meri Fasal, Mera Byora' portal by August 15. This announcement follows the recent approval of a proposal to purchase 10 additional crops at the minimum support price and the waiver of outstanding canal water irrigation charges. These moves come ahead of the Haryana Assembly polls scheduled for later this year.
