Six individuals have been arrested in connection with last month’s grenade attack on the Bhindi Saida police station in Punjab’s Amritsar district. The incident occurred on the intervening night of March 29 and 30, but, fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav stated on X on Monday that in a major breakthrough, the Amritsar Rural Police, in coordination with Faridkot Police, successfully cracked the case, leading to the arrest of six accused and the seizure of two pistols.
According to the DGP, preliminary investigations have revealed that the group was backed by Pakistan’s ISI. He further said the accused were in contact with a Pakistan-based handler, who was operating from abroad and directing terror-related activities in Punjab.
“On the night of March 29–30, 2026, the accused procured hand grenades, conducted reconnaissance and executed the attack. The module had been radicalised and motivated to target police establishments, with assurances of significant financial rewards for carrying out the operation,” he added.
An FIR has been registered under relevant provisions of the Explosive Substances Act, UAPA, BNS and the Arms Act. Further investigations are ongoing to uncover both forward and backward linkages and to dismantle the entire network, Yadav said.
