Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha assured to provide three-room homes to the residents of the disaster-hit Ramban families on Saturday, officials said.
The families whose houses were destroyed in the devastating flash floods and landslides triggered by the heavy rain and cloudburst on the second of August this year will receive new three-room homes built with modern amenities.
Sinha, while laying the foundation of the project, said the Jammu and Kashmir administration, in collaboration with various stakeholders, has extended full support to the affected families during the evacuation and rehabilitation programme.
“It is realistically impossible to build these homes with government aid alone. Though with the generous assistance of the Human Resource Development organisations, nearly 200 families of the district will receive new three-room homes within the next six months,” Sinha said.
LG Sinha further said that these houses will be covered under insurance for 15 years, with regular health check-ups and internet connectivity.
More such projects are being carried out in the other affected districts, especially in “Udhampur and Rajouri, where floods caused massive and widespread destruction during the August floods”.
“Sinha assured all possible help to the affected families in the various districts, saying today’s project is part of a broader initiative of the administration to rebuild the lives of the families and assist them in providing dignity,” he added.
