The Enforcement Directorate started search operations at various locations simultaneously in the land scam case in Ranchi, Jharkhand on Tuesday. According to information, different teams of ED are conducting raids in the Tupudana, Bariatu, Morhabadi and Pandara areas of Ranchi.

 

The ED teams are raiding the houses of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha leader Antu Tirkey, Congress leader and land broker Priya Ranjan Sahay along with others. Raids are going on at a total of 9 places in Ranchi.

 

According to sources, the raids are being conducted after interrogating land broker Mohammad Saddam, who was arrested by ED in the case of former Chief Minister Hemant Soren. Saddam is in the custody of the ED.

 

Sources said that Congress leader Sahay, who resides in the Kokar area of Ranchi, arranged forged documents from the Kolkata Registry office and sold valuable land plots to who’s who in the State.

 

Several people including Kolkata-based businessman Amit Agarwal, Dilip Ghosh, former Deputy Commissioner of Ranchi Chhavi Ranjan, Revenue Sub Inspector of Bargain Bhanu Pratap Prasad, Pradeep Bagchi, land brokers Afsar Ali, Imtiaz Khan, Talha Khan have been arrested by ED in the land scam case.

The ED team reached the residence of JMM leader Antu Turki in Bariatu at 6.30 am on Tuesday. After this, the documents are being scrutinised at Turkey's house.

 

ED had taken action last year in a case related to army land as well as a land scam in the capital Ranchi. Antu Turkey's residence is right near the office of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha.
