The remand of all the accused in the Haryana school bus accident is extended by 5 days, the officials cited on Friday. A preliminary investigation also revealed that the driver's documents were not verified.

Hours before the incident took place, the parents had an encounter with the driver and confiscated the keys after suspecting that he was drunk and even informed GL Public School’s principal.

As per the report of Hindustan Times, the parents cited, "However, the principal (Deepti) told parents to give back the key to the bus driver as the children are getting late. She assured the parents that a new bus driver would come from tomorrow. We had complained about the driver to school authorities several times but they failed to change him."

The driver (Dharmender) is among the three accused who have been arrested by the police, including the principal. The medical examination also revealed that the driver was under the influence of alcohol.

Allegedly, a 12th-class student has lodged a First Information Report (FIR) against the driver, alleging that the driver disregarded their pleas to reduce speed and also allegedly harassed them.

"The driver ignored the students' requests to slow down the vehicle. He allegedly threatened the children," the statement of FIR reads.
