A Delhi resident tragically lost his life during the opening night of the Sunburn electronic dance music (EDM) festival in Dhargal village, North Goa.
According to a spokesperson from the Goa Police, the deceased, identified as Karan Kashyap (26) from Rohini in West Delhi, collapsed at the festival venue around 9:45 pm on Saturday.
“Kashyap lost consciousness and was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Mapusa. Unfortunately, he passed away while undergoing treatment,” the spokesperson revealed.
The exact cause of death remains unknown. Authorities have announced that a post-mortem will be conducted at the Goa Medical College and Hospital.
“Further action will follow if any signs of foul play are detected,” the police official added.
The Sunburn festival, known for its pulsating music and vibrant atmosphere, draws thousands of attendees annually.
However, Saturday’s tragedy cast a pall over the event’s festivities, raising concerns about safety and medical preparedness at large-scale gatherings.
