Delhi hotel blaze: J-K LG Sinha, CM Abdullah express grief

The massive blaze broke out in a hotel located in a congested by-lane of south Delhi's Malviya Nagar locality.


Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday expressed deep grief and sorrow over the tragic loss of lives in a devastating fire incident in New Delhi's Malviya Nagar area.

 

In a message shared on X, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said he was deeply saddened by the tragedy and extended his heartfelt condolences to the families who lost their loved ones in the incident. He also prayed for the speedy recovery of those who sustained injuries in the fire.

 

"Deeply saddened by the loss of lives in a tragic fire incident in Malviya Nagar, Delhi. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families in this hour of grief. Prayers for early recovery of the injured," Sinha wrote.

 

The massive blaze broke out in a hotel located in a congested by-lane of south Delhi's Malviya Nagar locality. The fire claimed at least 21 lives and left several others injured. According to reports, some of the victims were foreign nationals who had been staying at the hotel while seeking medical treatment for their relatives at nearby hospitals.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also expressed profound grief over the incident. In a statement shared through his office on X, Abdullah conveyed his sincere sympathies to the bereaved families and prayed for the quick recovery of those injured in the tragedy.


The Chief Minister said his thoughts were with all those affected by the devastating incident and expressed solidarity with the victims and their families during this difficult time. He emphasized the need for support and assistance to those impacted by the tragedy.


The fire has sparked concerns over safety measures in densely populated urban areas, with authorities launching an investigation into the cause of the blaze. Rescue and relief operations were carried out by emergency services, while efforts continue to provide assistance to the affected families.
