J&K Congress flags delay in statehood restoration, vows to intensify ‘Hamari Riyasat Hamara Haq’ campaign to safeguard people’s rights.

The Jammu and Kashmir unit of the Congress Party has expressed frustration over the constant delay in the restoration of statehood to the Union Territory, saying the party would continue its struggle for safeguarding people’s rights. Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) held a detailed review meeting at its office, attended by coordinators and district chiefs from across Kashmir, and chaired by JKPCC President Tariq Hameed Karra.

Karra reviewed feedback on ongoing party activities in various districts. The party’s indigenous programme – Hamari Riyasat Hamara Haq, launched to press for restoration of statehood – also figured in the discussions.

Karra urged party leaders and cadre to actively involve people in the programme to send a clear message to the Centre that “constant and prolonged delay” in statehood restoration was unacceptable to the Congress.

He said, “We need to further intensify our political activities at the grassroots level in all districts to make sure maximum people in the party are involved in the indigenous movement, HamariRiyasatHamara Haq.”

Karra said people have great expectations from the Congress party. They know and understand it is the Congress party alone that is capable of fighting for safeguarding their rights and ensuring redressal of their genuine grievances.

The Congress represents people’s aspirations and feels committed to serving them,” Karra said.

“We are ready to deal with the challenges of whatever nature,” Karra said, adding the party is “strong enough to overcome these politically”.
