Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has approved Rs 750 crore for the police department. The amount will be used for infrastructure development over the next two years, Director General of Police Ajay Singhal said on Tuesday.
Saini recently held a detailed review of the police department. He also set targets for the next five years and discussed goals under “Vision 2047,” the DGP said. The Chief Minister has been reviewing all government departments, including the police.
The DGP said, “The Chief Minister gave us directions and guidance. On May 11, he conducted a detailed review of the police department and asked for complete information on all aspects.”
He said the Chief Minister has approved Rs 750 crore, which will be spent on infrastructure development over the next two years. He added that this is the highest allocation in the past five to six years.
The funds will be used for building new police stations, police lines, police posts, offices, and residential facilities, he said. A review meeting on crime in the state was also held under the DGP’s chairmanship.
The DGP said most of the recent major crimes have already been solved. He also said the suspects who tried to break into the house of Haryana Congress chief Rao Narender Singh in Narnaul were later arrested.
Recently, masked men had attempted to enter the ancestral house of Rao Narender Singh in Narnaul but failed when staff members heard the noise and alerted the police.
The gang members involved in the attempted break-in were caught. Seven people from the gang have been arrested, while two others are still absconding, he said.
