Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday extended greetings on Gandhi Jayanti.

The nation is observing the 156th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, commemorating his legacy of non-violence, truth, and simplicity.

In a post on X, the Office of the CM wrote: “The Chief Minister extends greetings on Gandhi Jayanti, recalling Gandhiji’s timeless message of truth, non-violence, peace, and humanity.”

Besides Omar, mainstream political parties in Jammu and Kashmir have also extended commemorations to the founder of the non-violent movement in India against the British rule.

He became a symbol of resistance, leading marches against barbarism, cruelty, injustice, and social inequality, which ultimately paved the way for India’s freedom struggle.

Meanwhile, LG Sinha extended greetings to the people on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.

In a post on X, the Office of the LG wrote: “On this momentous day, let us pledge and rededicate ourselves to follow Bapuji's ideals of peace, non-violence, truth, tolerance, compassion, and selfless service and contribute to building a Viksit Bharat.”
