The CBI filed its final charge sheet on Friday in the land-for-jobs scam, implicating former railway minister Lalu Prasad and his family members.

This comprehensive report, submitted to the special court, covers recruitment across all railway zones where jobs were allegedly exchanged for land acquired by Lalu's family.

Accused in the charge sheet are Lalu Prasad’s wife, Rabri Devi, son Tej Pratap Yadav, daughter Hema Yadav, former aide Bhola Yadav, and others.

The special court is set to review the report on July 6.

The CBI investigation revealed that the accused conspired with railway officials to employ individuals as 'substitutes' in exchange for land.

This land was acquired at prices significantly below both the prevailing circle and market rates, often in the names of the accused or their close relatives.

An official highlighted the substantial discrepancy between the land's acquisition cost and its market value, underscoring the scam's financial implications.

"During investigation, it has been found that the accused in conspiracy with the Railways officials and engaged persons as 'substitutes' in lieu of land either in their name or in the name of their close relatives. This land was acquired at prices lower than the prevailing circle rate and much lower than the market rate," an official said.
