As the high-stakes battle for the West Bengal Assembly Elections intensifies, BJP has launched an aggressive and expansive campaign strategy for the crucial first phase, stretching from North Bengal to Junglemahal in the western part of the state. Determined to project organisational strength and electoral momentum, the party has deployed a formidable lineup of top leadership and star campaigners across the state.
Leading the campaign charge is Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who is set to spearhead the BJP’s outreach with a remarkable 30 public rallies and engagements—the highest by any leader in the party for this phase. His extensive tour plan covers both North and South Bengal, reflecting the party’s intent to consolidate its presence across diverse regions.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also expected to play a pivotal role, with 11 mega rallies scheduled in support of BJP candidates contesting in the first phase. Matching his tally is Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who will also address 11 rallies, underscoring the party’s emphasis on high-impact campaigning.
The campaign effort is further reinforced by several prominent leaders from across the country. Former Union Minister Smriti Irani is slated to hold 13 rallies, while BJP’s national President and co-observer for West Bengal Nitin Nabin will participate in 10. Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha is expected to focus on tribal-dominated regions with nine rallies. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and former Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb will each conduct eight rallies, adding further depth to the campaign.
In addition to seasoned politicians, BJP has also enlisted a number of high-profile figures from the entertainment industry to energise voters. Actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut is scheduled to address seven rallies, while veteran leaders such as Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and BJP national president J. P. Nadda will each hold six. Other notable campaigners include Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, actor and MP Hema Malini, Rajasthan leader Rekha Gupta, as well as Arjun Munda and Babulal Marandi, who will campaign in the Junglemahal region.
While the blueprint for the first phase reflects a “maximum outreach” approach, BJP is already preparing for the second phase with equal intensity. Sources indicate that Amit Shah is likely to address multiple rallies across South Bengal during this period. Meanwhile, the schedule of Narendra Modi is still being finalised, though he is expected to participate in two major events in Kolkata towards the end of the campaign—one in North Kolkata and another in South Kolkata. With a particular focus on the politically significant Bhabanipur constituency, the party is also considering organising either a grand roadshow or a large-scale public rally in the area.
With an array of heavyweight leaders and an intensive campaign schedule, BJP is clearly aiming to make a strong impression in the opening phase of the electoral contest, setting the tone for the battle ahead.
