Andhra tops India’s fruit, fish production: RBI

The state recorded strong economic growth, with its Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) estimated at nearly ₹16 lakh crore at current prices during 2024-25.

Andhra Pradesh has occupied leading slots in different sectors of economy and society, based on a recent government report highlighting latest Reserve Bank of India statistics. The statistics represent continuous progress by Andhra Pradesh in the financial year 2024-25, during which it performed among top states in critical comparative indices.

A press release issued by the state government of Andhra Pradesh emphasised their state’s preeminence in food production.


Fruit production saw Andhra Pradesh at the top in the country with over 19 million tonnes. Andhra Pradesh topped in seafood production in the country with approximately 5.1 million tonnes. The state registered robust economic expansion with an estimate of Gross State Domestic Product of approximately ₹16 lakh crore in current prices during 2024-25.

Such an expansion saw an increase in levels of income, with the per capita GSDP being above ₹2.5 lakh during this time.

 

In terms of social progress, the report noted the average life expectancy in Andhra Pradesh was recorded at 70 years, matching the national average.Female life expectancy was 73 years, while male life expectancy stood at 68 years.

Andhra Pradesh ranked 10th nationally with an Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) score of 74.

The state ranked 14th nationally, with a per capita power availability of nearly 1,500 units.
