3 bodies found under debris in Delhi wall collapse

Cranes are being used to remove debris while water is being pumped out of the foundation pit to recover the remaining bodies.

The rescue operation for the remaining two labourers is currently in progress.


Early Saturday, the authorities recovered the body of a labourer from under the debris of a collapsed wall at a construction site in the Vasant Vihar area during heavy rain.

 

Officials said that two more labourers are possibly trapped under the rubble.

 

The incident took place on Friday and was reported to the Delhi Fire Services (DFS) at around 5:30 am.

 

The deceased, identified as 19-year-old Santosh Kumar Yadav, was found around 6:10 am on Saturday, according to Delhi Fire Services officials. His death was confirmed by doctors at Safdarjung Hospital.

 

Officials also added that the rescue operation for the remaining two labourers is currently in progress.

 

The operation is being carried out by personnel of the National Disaster Response Force, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority, and civic agencies.
