In a clash at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday night, the Mumbai Indians faced a crushing defeat against the Chennai Super Kings despite an electrifying century from skipper Rohit Sharma.

The match, marked by stellar performances and sportsmanship, left fans on the edge of their seats until the very last ball.

Rohit Sharma's unbeaten 105 off just 63 balls, his second IPL century, showcased his mastery and resilience on the pitch. However, Mumbai's valiant effort fell short as they failed to chase down Chennai's imposing total, resulting in a 20-run loss. This rare instance saw Rohit Sharma remaining unbeaten in a chase but unable to steer his team to victory.

Following the intense encounter, the former Indian captain and Chennai's talisman, MS Dhoni, consoled Rohit Sharma with a reassuring pat on the back.

Despite Rohit's heroics, Mumbai Indians struggled to find support from their middle order, ultimately denting their chances of victory.

Reflecting on the match, MI captain Hardik Pandya acknowledged that the target of 207 was within reach, especially with the batting-friendly conditions at Wankhede Stadium.

Pathirana's spellbinding display saw him claiming four crucial wickets for a mere 28 runs in his allotted four overs, playing a pivotal role in securing victory for the visitors.
