Mumbai Indians' Tim David and batting coach Kieron Pollard have been levied fines equating to 20 percent of their respective match fees for violating the IPL's Code of Conduct during their clash against Punjab Kings in Mullanpur on April 18.

The penalties were imposed subsequent to a contentious incident captured in a viral video during the match, wherein members of the Mumbai Indians squad and support staff in the dugout were purportedly seen offering illicit assistance to batter Suryakumar Yadav in soliciting a review.

An IPL release issued on Saturday stated, "David and Pollard committed a Level 1 offence under Article 2.20 of the IPL's Code of Conduct. David and Pollard were each fined 20 percent of their respective match fees."

Both individuals acknowledged the transgression and acceded to the decision handed down by the match referee, as per the IPL's protocols regarding Level 1 breaches.

The incident in question unfolded during the 15th over of Mumbai Indians' innings, wherein an Arshdeep Singh delivery veered full and wide outside the off-stump, closely skirting the line. Despite Suryakumar Yadav's pursuit of the delivery, the on-field umpire deemed it legitimate.

However, television footage captured Mumbai Indians' head coach Mark Boucher gesturing to Suryakumar Yadav that the delivery was a wide.

Subsequently, Tim David and Kieron Pollard were observed encouraging the batsman to initiate a review, contravening established regulations.
