India produced its most successful day at the Commonwealth Games on Saturday, with the boxing team delivering a record-breaking performance by winning seven gold medals. The country's judokas and para athletes also made significant contributions as India climbed to fourth place in the overall medal standings on the penultimate day of competition.
India ended the day with 39 medals, including 13 gold, 17 silver and nine bronze. Australia continued to lead the medal tally with 62 gold medals, followed by England with 26 and Canada with 18.
The biggest highlight came in the boxing arena, where Indian pugilists claimed seven of the nation's eight gold medals on the day, making it the country's best-ever boxing campaign at the Commonwealth Games. India also topped the boxing medal standings with seven gold and three silver medals, surpassing its previous best performance at the 2018 Gold Coast Games, where it won three gold medals.
India's women boxers led the charge with five gold medals. Reigning world champion Jaismine Lamboria (57kg), Preeti Pawar (54kg), Priya Ghanghas (60kg), Sakshi Chaudhary (51kg) and Arundhati Choudhary (70kg) all emerged victorious in their respective categories. Olympic medallist Lovlina Borgohain (75kg) settled for a silver medal after finishing runner-up in her final.
In the men's competition, Sachin Siwach (60kg) and Ankush Panghal (70kg) secured gold medals, while Jadumani Singh (55kg) and Narender Berwal (+90kg) earned silver medals, completing a memorable campaign for the Indian boxing contingent.
The only other gold medal of the day came from Soman Rana, who won the men's F57 para shot put title with a season-best throw of 13.40 metres. Fellow Indian Shubham Juyal finished second with 13.28m, giving India a one-two finish in the event.
India also enjoyed success in judo, where Unnati Sharma won bronze in the women's 63kg category. She defeated South Africa's Skye Knoester by ippon in just over a minute to secure India's fourth judo medal of the Games after bouncing back from a semifinal defeat.

The bronze added to India's historic campaign in judo, which has already seen Harsh Singh and Asmita Dey become the country's first-ever Commonwealth Games judo gold medallists, while Yamini Mourya claimed silver. India will have further medal opportunities on the final day with Ishroop Narang, Avtar Singh, and Yash Ghangas still in contention.
In athletics, Gulveer Singh created history by becoming the first Indian to win a Commonwealth Games medal in the men's 5,000 metres, taking bronze in 13:24.95. Having earlier won silver in the 10,000m, Gulveer also became the first Indian track and field athlete to claim two medals at a single edition of the Games.
India added two more medals in the men's triple jump as Praveen Chithravel secured silver with a jump of 16.58m, while Selva Prabhu Thirumaran claimed bronze with 16.52m.
The Glasgow Games also proved historic for India's para athletes. The 28-member contingent finished with seven medals—three gold, two silver and two bronze—matching the country's total medal haul from all previous Commonwealth Games combined. Para athletics contributed six medals, while Jhandu Kumar added a bronze in para powerlifting.
With one day of competition remaining, India remained on course for one of its strongest-ever Commonwealth Games campaigns, buoyed by a record-breaking performance from its boxers and impressive displays across multiple disciplines.
