Rahul to meet Cong leaders to work out J&K poll strategy

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is likely to convene a key meeting in New Delhi on Thursday evening with top Congress leaders from Jammu and Kashmir, to work out strategies for the upcoming Assembly elections.

 

This meeting coincides with the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) visit to Jammu and Kashmir to assess the security situation following a surge in terrorist activities. The ECI will also engage with political leaders and other stakeholders during their visit.

 

Party sources revealed that the invitees include JKPCC President Vikar Rasool Wani, Working President Raman Bhalla, AICC General Secretary and former JKPCC Chief Ghulam Ahmed Mir, and other senior leaders like Tariq Hamid Karra, Peerzada Muhammad Sayeed, Tara Chand, Ch Lal Singh, Mula Ram, Ravinder Sharma, and Ghulam Nabi Monga.

 

The meeting will be held at the All India Congress Committee (AICC) office at 6 PM Today.

 

In addition to Rahul Gandhi, AICC General Secretary (Org) K C Venugopal, party General Secretary and Incharge J&K Affairs Bharat Singh Solanki, and AICC Co-incharge Manoj Yadav are expected to participate in this crucial gathering.

 

Rahul Gandhi will seek feedback from J&K leaders regarding the upcoming elections and the current situation in the region.

 

The leaders will share insights and suggest ways to strengthen the Congress party's presence in the Union Territory ahead of the elections.

 

The meeting aims to revitalise the Congress’ position, especially in the Jammu region, and to formulate strategies to recover lost ground from the recent Lok Sabha elections.

 

Party insiders indicated that discussions might include potential alliances with like-minded parties for the Assembly polls.

 

The party leadership will also seek updates on terrorist activities and the overall political scenario in the Jammu, Kashmir, Doda, and Pir Panjal regions.

 

Confirming the news JKPCC chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma said  “The issues about Assembly elections in J&K, the overall security situation, alliance with other parties, and poll strategy are likely to be discussed.”

 

JKPCC Working President Raman Bhalla noted that the Congress high command is holding similar meetings with senior leaders from other states and UTs, including Jharkhand, Haryana, and Maharashtra, to gather feedback and discuss fresh strategies.
