In light of the recent tiff that has surfaced between the Janata Dal(United) and Rashtriya Janata Dal in Bihar, CM Mamata Banerjee has shared her viewpoint. A source close to the Trinamool Congress supremo has said. “Didi is of the view that if Bihar CM Nitish Kumar leaves the INDIA bloc, it would be of good riddance. She believes that the anti-incumbency factor that the Nitish-led government is facing would have cost the alliance.”

The discussion took place between CM Banerjee, TMC leaders and several journalists who were present at Raj Bhavan to meet Governor CV Ananda Bose on the occasion of Republic Day.

Since speculations regarding Kumar most likely to jump ship and join the National Democratic Alliance was a hot topic, CM Banerjee was questioned about it as she walked into Raj Bhavan.

“It would not be a loss for the RJD or Congress, if Kumar moves out of the mahagathbandhan in Bihar. Had they fought the election in alliance with the JD(U), they would have barely garnered 6 or 7 out of 40 seats in the state.”

Additionally, CM Banerjee also harboured doubts on Kumar’s commitment to stick with the Opposition alliance, which is why she had expressed her resentment over Kumar being the convener of the alliance.

“Didi was suspicious about the Bharatiya Janata Party-led NDA trying to make inroads into the INDIA bloc through Kumar. He becoming the convener would have helped the BJP,” a source said.

The source added: “Didi was aware of BJP’s plan, so she objected to Kumar being given the post of the convener. This suspicion was endorsed by Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray and Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav.”

On inquiring further, if Kumar’s U-turn could affect the INDI Alliance, CM Banerjee stated, “whatever it be the outcome, I will fight the BJP.”

Further, on asking about the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in the state, CM Banerjee reaffirmed that I was not even informed about the Yatra coming to Bengal, let alone receiving the invitation.

She even clarified that there will be no alliance with the Congress in the state. “I had offered them two seats. But they rejected my proposal. If the alliance is not working in the state, then the Congress is responsible for it.”

CM Banerjee even explained that the TMC-Congress contest in West Bengal will not disrupt the overall equilibrium of the INDIA bloc.

Those opposing the BJP will come together to stop them from making the government after the ensuing Lok Sabha polls are over.
